Choosing your hamster

This is the first and one of the most important stages of caring for your hamster. Hamsters need to suit you and your home and you need to know what type of hamster species will suit you best.

When buying hamsters ask about the sex of the hamster before you buy them, the sex is very important because there are differences between males and females. Often Females are much more dirty but they are more passive as well as opposed to males which are more active.

Syrian Males are known to be the easiest to care for than females and are a great choice for first time owners as they are easy to handle. In most other species the sex doesn't matter but make sure you know about the different type of hamsters.
